Food specialist warns against unsafe food handling

A University of Johannesburg food specialist, Professor Mpinane Flory Senekane, has warned Basotho that unsafe food handling practices during funerals and large gatherings may be causing illness in communities. She urged improved hygiene standards including proper meat slaughtering, cleanliness of utensils, personal hygiene of food preparers, and appropriate food storage, particularly given Lesotho's unreliable electricity supply.
