Weak public investment management hampers Lesotho’s economy

The IMF has released a technical assessment report finding that Lesotho's economy suffers from ineffective planning and poor implementation of capital projects, despite spending around 10 percent of GDP on public investment annually. The report identifies weak budget execution, limited technical capacity, and a public investment efficiency gap of approximately 49 percent as major obstacles preventing infrastructure spending from delivering sustained economic growth.
