We still don’t know how people are really using AI
Researchers have created the AI Observatory, an independent platform aggregating nearly 25,000 real user conversations across seven datasets to provide transparency on how people actually use AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok. The study reveals significant differences in AI usage patterns by model and identifies sensitive behaviors that company reports often omit, highlighting the limitation of relying solely on data released by AI companies themselves.
