The big Polihali Dam scam
An international panel of experts has concluded that the SUN JV consortium building Lesotho's Polihali Dam lacks capacity to deliver the project, leading the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority to remove major work components from the contractor and reassign them to other firms. The panel's October 2025 report cited poor material quality, equipment delays from China, and slow progress on critical tasks as reasons for the descoping decision.
