Oil-price shocks may be becoming a ‘new normal’ for economies

Economists forecast continued volatility in oil prices, with Brent crude expected to trade between US$65 and US$95 per barrel in the fourth quarter, as businesses and economies adapt to energy-market uncertainty as a persistent condition. South African economists maintained GDP growth forecasts at 1.2 percent despite oil price uncertainty, though they raised inflation estimates slightly and trimmed employment growth projections.
