Mystery surrounds Mabusane’s release from custody

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is investigating how Lefa Mabusane, a convicted double-murder accused facing multiple serious charges, was released from Lesotho Correctional Service custody without authorization. Mabusane was returned to prison after prosecutors discovered his absence when he failed to appear in court for an assault case, and he now faces trial for the 2014 murders of two nurses as well as pending assault and rape charges.
