Matekane moves to clip Lephema’s wings

Prime Minister Sam Matekane has issued a directive barring Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) party officials from holding unsanctioned meetings, rallies, and social gatherings, in a move widely seen as targeting former cabinet minister Lebona Lephema's nationwide campaign to mobilize support for a leadership challenge. Lephema, who was removed from cabinet in April, has been conducting party gatherings across multiple constituencies using his private helicopter and wealth to attract supporters, while three of his proxies have petitioned for an annual party conference to initiate new leadership elections.
