IEC explores harmonised elections

The Independent Electoral Commission is exploring the possibility of holding Lesotho's National Assembly and local government elections simultaneously to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase voter participation. The IEC also announced it will provide Parliament with technical advice on a proposed Private Member's Bill to introduce a 'Best Loser' electoral model, cautioning that international research has identified several challenges with the system.
