Govt sues Ha Belo contractor for M15.4 million
The Lesotho Ministry of Energy and Mining has filed a High Court lawsuit against Phaks Joint Venture seeking to recover M15.4 million, alleging the contractor abandoned the World Bank-funded Ha Belo power station project after receiving substantial payments. The ministry claims Phaks was unjustly enriched through duplicate payments, VAT overpayments, undelivered equipment, and failed to complete the project before the government terminated the contract and appointed a new contractor.
