Finance still struggling to end duplicate payments

The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning admitted to the Public Accounts Committee that duplicate payments continue to occur within the government's financial system, with five cases recorded in the 2025/26 financial year attributed to implementation challenges with the Electronic Funds Transfer system. The PAC is investigating broader financial discrepancies in government accounts, including a M6.1 billion gap uncovered by auditors and M524 million in debt payments processed outside the official IFMIS platform.
