Lesotho farmers have been urged to adopt climate-smart agricultural practices including adjusted planting schedules, improved water management and short-duration crop varieties to prepare for anticipated El Niño conditions expected from November to April. The call was made at a stakeholder forum where experts from the FAO, Lesotho Meteorological Services and agricultural suppliers warned that the weather event could reduce rainfall, increase temperatures and threaten crop yields, livestock and water resources.
