AI breakthroughs in robotics won’t change your life any time soon
Despite significant recent advances in AI-powered robotics, including Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics and Physical Intelligence's π0.7 model demonstrating improved task performance, practical deployment remains limited to tightly controlled environments with success rates too low for real-world reliability. Leading researchers and industry experts acknowledge that current vision-language-action models struggle with generalization, require massive amounts of training data, and cannot yet handle the complexity and variability of real-world tasks reliably enough for commercial use.
